Sport: Irish Dance
At University Sports since:
What fascinates me about my sport is...
... the combination of endurance sport and dance development. Nothing is better than coming out of practice completely K.O. and being happy that the one step that has been causing problems all along has finally become more fluid. Irish dancing is without question exhausting - my instructor's favorite quote, "If you're not completely exhausted after a dance and gasping for air like a fish out of water, you haven't danced with full power and dedication" is completely justified - but it's an incredible feeling to be completely free while dancing and to seem almost weightless during some movements.
What fascinates me about University Sports is...
... the variety of sports offered. Even when I was little I was fascinated by Irish dance shows like Riverdance and Lord of the Dance, but Irish dance is not a widely known sport and I never had the opportunity to learn this sport in my area. The university sport offered me the possibility to get to know and love this sport. So if you have always been interested in a sport, don't be afraid to try it! ;)
When I'm not practicing my sport...
... I work in the technical chemistry labs, meet up with friends, browse through a book, or practice aerial acrobatics and hang from a vertical cloth or ring at dizzying heights.
My motto is:
He who always does what he already can, always remains what he already is. (Henry Ford)
