The Unifit is the fitness studio of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. It is operated by the university sports department. User rights can be acquired by students and employees of the RUB and their partner universities.
The Unifit is located in the city center in the immediate vicinity of the main train station, on the ground floor of the "Bochumer Fenster". The building also houses the Restaurant Mongo's, lecture halls and seminar rooms of the RUB as well as parts of the legal and psychological departments.

Due to the city center location, only paid parking spaces are available, so it might be easier to travel by train, bike or on foot.
The offer is aimed at students and employees of the RUB and its cooperating Bochum universities (EFH Bochum, HS Bochum, HSG Bochum, EBZ Business School, TFH Agricola).
The first step is to book a starting course online. After completing the starting course, you can also book a Unifit card - also online. Here you will receive a personal barcode, which you can bring to the Unifit as a printout or on your smartphone. Your barcode is scanned at the reception and you can enter the Unifit.

Yes. Because the starting course is not primarily about imparting training knowledge, but about introducing the Unifit and its possibilities. In this respect it can be equated with a trial training. After completing the course, you are welcome to move around freely in the studio and try everything out.

Barcode (as printout or on the smartphone), sportswear with sleeves, towel, indoor shoes, drink, 1 or 2 euro piece for the locker.
"Indoor shoes" are shoes that are only used indoors. The sole color doesn't matter. Under no circumstances is it permitted to enter the Unifit with shoes that were already worn outside and to "walk through" directly onto the training area. "Barefoot training" is also ruled out - suitable footwear is now available for this.
Barcode (als Ausdruck oder auf dem Smartphone), Sportkleidung mit Ärmeln, Handtuch, Indoorschuhe, Getränk, 1 oder 2 Euro-Stück für den Garderobenspind.
"Indoorschuhe" sind hier Schuhe, die nur Indoor genutzt werden. Die Sohlenfarbe ist egal. Es ist unter keinen Umständen gestattet, mit bereits angekleidetem Schuhwerk das Unifit zu betreten und direkt "durchzulaufen" auf die Trainingsfläche. Auch "Barfußtraining" ist ausgeschlossen - hierfür gibt es mittlerweile passendes Schuhwerk.
The cloakrooms of the Unifit have a total of 340 cloakroom lockers with coin lock, suitable for 1 and 2 euro coins. There are also safe deposit boxes in the foyer for the safe storage of laptops, smartphones and valuables.

The philosophy of Unifit is to focus on the core of effective fitness training - the training itself. This requires suitable equipment and effective instructions. This is what we focus on and what our strength is. Additional elements whose provision and management distract from the core are not part of the Unifit philosophy. Bring your own drink. If entertainment media make your cardio training easier, we recommend that you bring your medium with you - there is a good EDUROAM connection in the Unifit and all cardio machines have appropriate storage facilities. If you want to lock your tablet securely afterwards, there are safe deposit boxes available in the foyer area.
The word "offer" already says it - you can accept it, but you can also simply train on your own. Our recommendation: Since even top athletes only develop their full potential with the help of a coach, look for the right coach in the Unifit team.
